January 2003

Cogent SSC, Polymer NTO and British Nuclear Industry Forum enter negotiations to develop an extended SSC. The proposal is referred to as "Cogent Plus".

31 March 2003

Cogent Plus to submit an Expression of Interest to the Sector Skills Development Agency, following wide consultation with employers.

April - September 2003

Cogent Plus enters development phase.

September - December 2003

SSDA reviews Cogent Plus proposal and grants full five-year licence.

1 January 2004

The new SSC becomes operational
